Effects of a Floating Photovoltaic System on the Water Evaporation Rate in the Passaúna Reservoir, Brazil

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Freshwater scarcity is a significant concern due to climate change in some regions of Brazil; likewise, evaporation rates have increased over the years.

Effect of floating balls on evaporation inhibition, surface energy balance and biological water quality parameters at different coverage fractions

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management, 2023
High evaporation in plain reservoirs in arid regions exacerbates water shortages. Investigations have established that floating elements assembled modular with maximum coverage on the water surface, such as floating balls, can effectively mitigate ...

Quantifying evaporation losses in the river-lake continuum in arid regions basins using isotope data

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Understanding surface water evaporation losses is essential for quantifying water balance and optimizing resource management in arid inland basins. Arid inland regions face severe water scarcity driven by high evaporation and intensive human regulation ...

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Leucine‐rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) is a ganglioside‐binding protein

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neuronal hyperexcitability associated with a decrease/absence of the extracellular protein LGI1 has been suggested to be primarily due to the downregulation of Kv1 channel expression. The molecular mechanisms underlying this decrease have not yet been elucidated.

High Spatiotemporal Estimation of Reservoir Evaporation Water Loss by Integrating Remote-Sensing Data and the Generalized Complementary Relationship

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Accurately estimating the reservoir evaporation loss is crucial for water resources management. The existing research on reservoir evaporation loss estimates primarily focuses on large spatiotemporal scales and neglects the rapid dynamic changes to ...

Spatiotemporal dynamics of water film confinement during spreading and evaporation in highly hierarchical wicking nano/microstructure on Si surface at 120 °C

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
Enhancing the wicking/evaporative functionality of materials by surface nano/microstructuring is a key approach in creating advanced technologies based on the liquid–vapor phase change, particularly in the field of power generation for substantial fuel ...
