The effect of Intercropping on the Deep Root Development and Nutrient Uptake in a Sugar Beet – Chicory Mixture. [PDF]
Sustaining an increasing human population with decreasing soil resources is a great challenge of the 21st century. Suboptimal availability of water and N are primary limitations to plant growth in the low-input agroecosystems in developing nations ...

Bioavailability and trophic transfer of humic-bound copper from bacteria to zooplankton [PDF]
: The effect of humic acid (HA) on uptake and transfer of Cu by selected marine organisms from the microbial loop was determined. Bacteria grown with and without 15 µg Cu l-1 and with and without 10 mg Suwannee River Humic Acid (SRHA) l-1 were fed to ...

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Interaction of iron oxide nanoparticles synthesized by laser target evaporation with polyacrylamide in composites and ferrogels [PDF]
Received: 05.06.2017; accepted: 20.06.2017;published: 14.07.2017.Iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) with average diameter 11.7 nm synthesized by laser target evaporation were used for the synthesis of composites and ferrogels based on ...

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Water absorption and degradation characteristics of chitosan-based polyesters and hydroxyapatite composites [PDF]
Blends of chitosan and biodegradable synthetic aliphatic polyesters (polycaprolactone, poly-(butylene succinate), poly[(butylene succinate)-co-adipate], poly[(butylene terephthalate)-co-adipate], and poly(lactic acid)) were injection-molded.

Root Water Uptake and Ideotypes of the Root System: Whole‐Plant Controls Matter
The threshold soil water potential for water uptake depends on stomatal control. Whole‐plant transpiration increases hydraulic conductance in roots and shoots. It decreases the rhizosphere hydraulic conductance, resulting in feedback loops.

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
