Photoinduced Nucleation of Water Vapor

Science, 1978
Strong photoinduced nucleation of pure water vapor was found to occur in a wavelength range where no ultraviolet absorption of water vapor has been reported. Systematic studies were made of the dependence of the nucleation rate and the delay time for the initiation of nucleation on light intensity.

Ions at the Water−Vapor Interface

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
We obtain the electrostatic free energy of finite-sized ions near a dielectric interface within the framework of the classical continuum dielectric theory. The ion is modeled as a dielectric sphere with a fixed uniform surface charge density. In order to avoid the generation of additional induced charges on the ionic surface, it is assumed there is no ...

Water Vapor Adsorption on Goethite

Environmental Science & Technology, 2013
Goethite (α-FeOOH) is an important mineral contributing to processes of atmospheric and terrestrial importance. Their interactions with water vapor are particularly relevant in these contexts. In this work, molecular details of water vapor (0.0-19.0 Torr; 0-96% relative humidity at 25 °C) adsorption at surfaces of synthetic goethite nanoparticles ...

Enceladus' Water Vapor Plume

Science, 2006
The Cassini spacecraft flew close to Saturn's small moon Enceladus three times in 2005. Cassini's UltraViolet Imaging Spectrograph observed stellar occultations on two flybys and confirmed the existence, composition, and regionally confined nature of a water vapor plume in the south polar region of Enceladus.

Water and Water Vapor Environment

2002
Water movement in soil is much more complicated than that of CO2 because not only is water present in two phases, one liquid and the other gas, but also water movement is related to heat flow. However, in order to simplify the problem and understand the system clearly, it is again assumed that vapor flow in soil is independent of heat flow, as we ...

Water vapor pressure calculation

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1985
Accurate calculation of water vapor pressure for systems saturated with water vapor can be performed using the Goff-Gratch equation. A form of the equation that can be adapted for computer programming and for use in electronic databases is provided.

Electrical Breakdown in Water Vapor

Physical Review E, 2011
In this paper investigations of the voltage required to break down water vapor are reported for the region around the Paschen minimum and to the left of it. In spite of numerous applications of discharges in biomedicine, and recent studies of discharges in water and vapor bubbles and discharges with liquid water electrodes, studies of the basic ...
