Water-vapor-based source of UV radiation

Technical Physics, 2010
The results of studying a capacitive discharge in water vapor are reported. This discharge is an effective and environmentally friendly source of UV radiation due to hydroxyl OH (A2Σ+ → X2Π transition) in the wavelength range 280–330 nm. It is shown that, at E/N 210 Td, ionization dominates over dissociation.

A study on the water vapor transport trend and water vapor source of the Tibetan Plateau

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 2020
The climatological characteristics of water vapor transport over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) were investigated in this study by using the ERA-interim and JRA55 monthly reanalysis dataset. The trends of water vapor budget and water vapor sources during the past 40 years were also revealed.

Water Vapor: Observations of Galactic Sources

Science, 1969
We measured the emission of water vapor at a wavelength of 1.35 centimeters from nine sources with the 120-foot (36.5-meter) Haystack antenna. Eight sources lie within 30 seconds of arc of the hydroxyl sources of 18 centimeters but not all hydroxyl sources produced detectable emission of water vapor.

Operating a radio-frequency plasma source on water vapor

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009
A magnetically enhanced radio-frequency (rf) plasma source operating on water vapor has an extensive list of potential applications. In this work, the use of a rf plasma source to dissociate water vapor for hydrogen production is investigated. This paper describes a rf plasma source operated on water vapor and characterizes its plasma properties using ...

A water-vapor electric-discharge vacuum ultraviolet source

Technical Physics Letters, 2001
The optical emission from a longitudinal dc glow discharge in water vapors (P=0.05–2.5 kPa) was studied in a wavelength range of λ=130–350 nm. It is shown that the discharge in low-pressure water vapors can be used as a source of the vacuum UV (VUV) radiation in the 140–190 nm wavelength range.

Ultraviolet radiation sources on (H2O, D2O) water vapor

Technical Physics, 2009
Emission characteristics of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from water vapor (H2O, D2O, and a mixture of H2O and D2O vapors) excited by pulse-periodic discharges with open electrodes, as well as electrodes outside the discharge tube (capacitive discharge), are presented. Radiation is studied in a spectral range of 175–350 nm. The emission characteristics of

Single Frequency Er:YAG methane/water vapor DIAL source

Imaging and Applied Optics 2018 (3D, AO, AIO, COSI, DH, IS, LACSEA, LS&C, MATH, pcAOP), 2018
Fibertek is developing Pound Drever Hall PDH injection locked, resonantly pumped Er:YAG laser systems for methane and water vapor differential absorption lidar (DIAL). We have achieved 6mJ at 1645nm and a spectral purity of 99.9%

Deuterium excess reveals diurnal sources of water vapor in forest air

Oecologia, 2010
An understanding of atmospheric water vapor content and its isotopic composition is important if we are to be able to model future water vapor dynamics and their potential feedback on future climate change. Here we present diurnal and vertical patterns of water isotope ratios in forest air (δ(2)H(v) and δ(18)O(v)) not observed previously.

Remote sensing evidence for regolith water vapor sources on Mars

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1982
A survey of ground‐based and spacecraft observations at visible wavelengths of condensate activity in the Martian atmosphere is presented. The observations reveal that Solis Lacus has been a center of condensate activity throughout the observational record, along with sites in Noachis‐Hellespontus and in border regions of Syrtis Major.

Multi-source water vapor tomography based on ray-tracing technique

2023
GNSS water vapor tomography has proven to be a near-real-time cost-effective method to obtain the three-dimensional distribution of atmospheric water vapor. Many previous studies have used various methods to derive the GNSS water vapor tomography. However, the number and distribution of GNSS signals limit the accuracy and spatial resolution of GNSS ...
