Hot hydrogen atoms in a water-vapor microwave plasma source
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2009Abstract A study of the hydrogen Balmer line shape in a water-vapor, microwave slot-antenna excited plasma source operated at 2.45 GHz is reported. The emission profiles of the H α and H β lines are well fitted by Gaussian profiles. Excited hydrogen atoms are detected in the remote plasma zone of the source up to 30 cm distance from the exciting ...

Water vapor sources associated with the early summer precipitation over China
Climate Dynamics, 2007This study investigates the water vapor sources for the early summer precipitation over China in association with the Asian summer monsoon, based on the sensitivity experiments performed by a regional climate model for the year 1998. It is found that the northern South China Sea (NSCS) is an important region for the early summer precipitation over ...

Sources of Intermodel Spread in the Lapse Rate and Water Vapor Feedbacks
Journal of Climate, 2018AbstractSources of intermodel differences in the global lapse rate (LR) and water vapor (WV) feedbacks are assessed using CO2 forcing simulations from 28 general circulation models. Tropical surface warming leads to significant warming and moistening in the tropical and extratropical upper troposphere, signifying a nonlocal, tropical influence on ...

A differential absorption lidar system based on a continuously tunable Nd:YAG pumped optical parametric oscillator source is described which is capable of range-resolved measurements of atmospheric species with absorption bands in the 1.4-4.0-mum range. The system has been used to measure atmospheric water vapor at ranges of up to 1 km.

ST WV Sources and Transport of Water Vapor : 5-year Science Review
2015The overarching aim of this Science Team (ST-WV) is to contribute to study of the multiscaleinteraction between ambient flow and deep convection that governed the heavy precipitationevents (HPEs) observed during the first HyMeX Special Observing Period (SOP) throughCross-validation studies and synergistic use of SOP observations and models in order ...
