A water-vapor electric-discharge vacuum ultraviolet source

Technical Physics Letters, 2001
The optical emission from a longitudinal dc glow discharge in water vapors (P=0.05–2.5 kPa) was studied in a wavelength range of λ=130–350 nm. It is shown that the discharge in low-pressure water vapors can be used as a source of the vacuum UV (VUV) radiation in the 140–190 nm wavelength range.

Ultraviolet radiation sources on (H2O, D2O) water vapor

Technical Physics, 2009
Emission characteristics of ultraviolet (UV) radiation from water vapor (H2O, D2O, and a mixture of H2O and D2O vapors) excited by pulse-periodic discharges with open electrodes, as well as electrodes outside the discharge tube (capacitive discharge), are presented. Radiation is studied in a spectral range of 175–350 nm. The emission characteristics of

Water vapor sources associated with the early summer precipitation over China

Climate Dynamics, 2007
This study investigates the water vapor sources for the early summer precipitation over China in association with the Asian summer monsoon, based on the sensitivity experiments performed by a regional climate model for the year 1998. It is found that the northern South China Sea (NSCS) is an important region for the early summer precipitation over ...

Deuterium excess reveals diurnal sources of water vapor in forest air

Oecologia, 2010
An understanding of atmospheric water vapor content and its isotopic composition is important if we are to be able to model future water vapor dynamics and their potential feedback on future climate change. Here we present diurnal and vertical patterns of water isotope ratios in forest air (δ(2)H(v) and δ(18)O(v)) not observed previously.

Analysis of water vapor sources and water vapor recycle rate in northwest China based on the LMDZ model

Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies
This study spatially interpolates isotope data from nine stations in northwest China based on the LMDZ (Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique-Zoom) model, analyzes the contribution of different water vapor sources to precipitation in the region through a ternary mixing model, and simulates the trajectory of air mass transport in the region by combining

Remote sensing evidence for regolith water vapor sources on Mars

Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1982
A survey of ground‐based and spacecraft observations at visible wavelengths of condensate activity in the Martian atmosphere is presented. The observations reveal that Solis Lacus has been a center of condensate activity throughout the observational record, along with sites in Noachis‐Hellespontus and in border regions of Syrtis Major.

Sources of Intermodel Spread in the Lapse Rate and Water Vapor Feedbacks

Journal of Climate, 2018
AbstractSources of intermodel differences in the global lapse rate (LR) and water vapor (WV) feedbacks are assessed using CO2 forcing simulations from 28 general circulation models. Tropical surface warming leads to significant warming and moistening in the tropical and extratropical upper troposphere, signifying a nonlocal, tropical influence on ...

Hot hydrogen atoms in a water-vapor microwave plasma source

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2009
Abstract A study of the hydrogen Balmer line shape in a water-vapor, microwave slot-antenna excited plasma source operated at 2.45 GHz is reported. The emission profiles of the H α and H β lines are well fitted by Gaussian profiles. Excited hydrogen atoms are detected in the remote plasma zone of the source up to 30 cm distance from the exciting ...
