Equations for Deep Water Counter Streaming Waves and New Integrals of Motion

open access: yesFluids, 2019
The waves on a free surface of 2D deep water can be split into two groups: the waves moving to the right, and the waves moving to the left. A specific feature of the four-wave interactions of water waves allows to describe the evolution of the two groups

Mooring Drag Effects in Interaction Problems of Waves and Moored Underwater Floating Structures

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
In contrast to either considering structures with full degrees of freedom but with wave force on mooring lines neglected or with wave scattering and radiation neglected, in this paper, a new analytic solution is presented for wave interaction with moored

Modeling Nonlinear Dispersive Water Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
An expository review is given on various theories of modeling weakly to strongly nonlinear, dispersive, time-evolving, three-dimensional gravity-capillary waves on a layer of water.

Splash singularity for water waves [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2012
We exhibit smooth initial data for the two-dimensional (2D) water-wave equation for which we prove that smoothness of the interface breaks down in finite time. Moreover, we show a stability result together with numerical evidence that there exist solutions of the 2D water-wave equation that start from a graph, turn over, and collapse in a splash ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Towards High-Performance Linear Potential Flow BEM Solver with Low-Rank Compressions

open access: yesEnergies
The interaction of water waves with floating bodies can be modeled with linear potential flow theory and numerically solved with the boundary element method (BEM).

Generalized function treatment of the Alfvén-gravity wave problem

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1983
A study is made of the steady-state Alfvén-gravity waves in an inviscid incompressible electrically conducting fluid with an interface due to a harmonically oscillating pressure distribution acting on the interface.

Tsunamis Generated and Amplified by Atmospheric Pressure Waves Due to an Eruption over Seabed Topography

open access: yesGeosciences, 2022
Numerical simulations were generated using a nonlinear shallow-water model of velocity potential to study the fundamental processes of tsunami generation and amplification by atmospheric pressure waves.

Modeling water waves beyond perturbations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this chapter, we illustrate the advantage of variational principles for modeling water waves from an elementary practical viewpoint. The method is based on a `relaxed' variational principle, i.e., on a Lagrangian involving as many variables as ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...
