An Overview of the Ecological Values of Soumar Wetland on Waterbirds Diversity

open access: yeszoodiversity, 2023
The diversity and richness of the waterbird community is the main criterion used to classify wetlands as Ramsar and/or IBA sites. This study was carried out in the Soumar wetland (Setif province — northeastукт Algeria) from September 2019 to September 2020. Our aim was to study the ecological values of this wetland and the status of waterbirds.

Impacts of habitat modification on the dynamics of waterbird diversity in Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
The Pearl River Delta (PRD) is a crucial habitat for over 120 species of waterbirds, including migratory species. As a key component of the wetland resources in the PRD, Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park (GHNWP) plays a vital role in supporting the ...

Genetic diversity, recombination and cross-species transmission of a waterbird gammacoronavirus in the wild

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2023
2.AbstractViruses emerging from wildlife can cause outbreaks in humans and domesticated animals. Predicting the emergence of future pathogens and mitigating their impacts requires an understanding of what shapes virus diversity and dynamics in wildlife reservoirs.

Diverse usage of waterbird habitats and spatial management in Yancheng coastal wetlands

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2020
Abstract In recent years, the suitable habitat for waterbirds in the Yancheng coastal wetlands has shown continuous degradation and decreasing dimensions. In this paper, the spatial distribution differences and main environmental variables of the suitable habitats for waterbird guilds were analyzed based on the field survey data and a random forest ...

Mechanism of Waterbird Diversity Succession and Its Contribution to Nutrient Loads in Chagan Lake, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Analyzing the spatiotemporal variation of waterbird diversity is important for wetland restoration and protection. However, further research is needed to investigate the mutual feedback between the mechanisms of waterbird diversity and water quality ...

Multi-scale factors revealed contrasting impacts on Waterbird composition and Beta diversity across wetlands in an Afrotropical landscape

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Global loss and human-induced degradation of wetlands are presumed to impact waterbirds. To understand how human activities and habitat features drive waterbird species composition, there is need to understand beta-diversity and its components of ...

Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.
