Understanding Waterlogging Stress in Cowpea: An Overview
Waterlogging stress is a significant threat to the global agriculture, resulted in the 33% reduction in the average crop yield. It is predicted that annual daily precipitation will increase by 14% by 2050 in IPCC report. Increase in precipitation increases waterlogging condition. This stress causes a cascade of physiological and morphological responses

This study investigated consistency in habitat selection over a 12‐year period in a breeding population of Ortolan Bunting in Uelzen, Lower Saxony (Germany). We demonstrate strong interannual variation in crop type preferences and avoidance and breeding territories were strongly associated with well‐drained soils with low soil fertility.

Leaf chlorophyll fluorescence; cell electrolyte leakage; plant mortality; leaf necrosis; time to bud burst; and leaf, shoot, and root macronutrient concentrations were evaluated.

The key cytochrome P450 gene GmSUR2a enables soybeans to withstand destructive submergence stress. By lowering the level of the plant hormone indole‐3‐acetic acid, this gene improves soybean survival and increases field yield. It offers an important tool for breeding stress‑resilient soybeans, securing food production against extreme weather conditions.
