Impact of silvicultural system on natural regeneration in Western Himalayan moist temperate forests of Pakistan

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2021
Site conditions (topography, aspect, moisture availability, humus thickness, light exposure, and grazing activities) play a vital role in the germination and regeneration process. The research was conducted in the Himalayan moist temperate forest.

Erosion protection at mining sites using a concrete-enhanced synthetic turf system [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Many mining sites are facing water erosion challenges due to changing weather patterns and more frequent extreme weather conditions. A concrete-reinforced engineered turf system has been developed for erosion protection and used in mining applications ...

Ultrametric Watersheds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study hierachical segmentation in the framework of edge-weighted graphs. We define ultrametric watersheds as topological watersheds null on the minima. We prove that there exists a bijection between the set of ultrametric watersheds and the set of hierarchical edge-segmentations.

Modeling nitrogen loading in a small watershed in southwest China using a DNDC model with hydrological enhancements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The degradation of water quality has been observed worldwide, and inputs of nitrogen (N), along with other nutrients, play a key role in the process of contamination.

Topological Relationship‐Based Flow Direction Modeling: Mesh‐Independent River Networks Representation

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2023
River networks are important features in surface hydrology. However, accurately representing river networks in spatially distributed hydrologic and Earth system models is often sensitive to the model's spatial resolution. Specifically, river networks are

Artificial Intelligence for Aerial Image Detection in Watershed Monitoring: A Case Study of Tamansari Catchment, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Accurate land use information is vital for effective watershed monitoring and management. This study explores the use of ChatGPT-4o, a multimodal large language model (LLM), to interpret UAV-derived orthomosaics in the Tamansari Catchment, Central Java ...

Assessment of BMPs by Estimating Hydrologic and Water Quality Outputs Using SWAT in Yazoo River Watershed

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
Water quality is a global concern; it is due to point and non-point source pollution. Non-point sources for pollution are mainly runoff from Agricultural and forest. To decrease nutrient inputs, management practices are implemented.

Assessment of Best Management Practices on Hydrology and Sediment Yield at Watershed Scale in Mississippi Using SWAT

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
The selection and execution of appropriate best management practices (BMPs) in critical areas of a watershed can effectively reduce sediment yield. Objectives of this research include developing a watershed-scale Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT ...

Detection of Moving Ships in Sequences of Remote Sensing Images

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
High-speed agile remote sensing satellites have the ability to capture multiple sequences of images. However, the frame rate is lower and the baseline between each image is much longer than normal image sequences.
