A Weakly Nonlinear System for Waves and Sheared Currents over Variable Bathymetry

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The wave–current–seabed interaction problem is studied by using a coupled-mode system developed for modeling wave scattering by non-homogeneous, sheared currents in variable bathymetry regions.

Particle trajectories beneath wave-current interaction in a two-dimensional field [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2012
Within the Lagrangian reference framework we present a third-order trajectory solution for water particles in a two-dimensional wave-current interaction flow.

Motion Characteristics Analysis of the Wave Glider Under Wave and Current Coupling

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The wave glider is an unmanned marine observation platform propelled by wave energy. Accurate prediction of its motion performance is crucial for structural design and motion control. This paper presents a four-degree-of-freedom nonlinear coupled dynamic

Numerical Modelling of the Effects of the Gulf Stream on the Wave Characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
The influence of the Gulf Stream on the wind wave characteristics is investigated. Wave–current interaction inside the current field can result in significant inhomogeneities of the wave field that change the wave spectrum and wave statistics. This study

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

CFD modeling of orthogonal wave-current interactions in a rectangular numerical wave basin

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering
Sea-crossing bridges are subject to long-term simultaneous wave and current loadings throughout thier life cycle. The wave-current interaction makes the hydrodynamic load calculation difficult and challenging, especially in simulating the noncollinear ...

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Evaluating the Effects of Water Circulation on the Modeling of Wave Propagation on the Southern Coast of the Iberian Peninsula

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Simulating wave propagation is crucial for forecasting processes offshore and near the coast. Many operational wave models consider only atmospheric and wave forcing as boundary conditions.

Re-Creating Waves in Large Currents for Tidal Energy Applications

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Unsteady wave loading on tidal turbines impacts significantly the design, and expected life-time, of turbine blades and other key components. Model-scale testing of tidal turbines in the wave-current environment can provide vital understanding by ...
