Orbital Geometry‐Governed Response of Pressure‐Tunable Quantum Defects in hBN

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defects in hBN act as ultrasensitive quantum manometers when the energy of the intradefect optical transitions is modified by lattice compression. The orbital geometry of the electron wave functions governs how electron hopping and Coulomb interactions react uniquely to the reduction of the van der Waals gap and in‐plane compression, leading to robust ...

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Long‐Range Coordination Environment Modulates Single‐Atom Local States and Systemic Impact on CO2 Photoconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal groups on Cu porphyrins modulate the electronic states of single‐atom Cu centers through a long‐range electronic effect, without altering the Cu coordination geometry. Meanwhile, a multi‐descriptor framework is established that incorporates porphyrin regulation, hybrid catalyst properties, and CO2 photoreduction capabilities.

S-wave model in electron-atom collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis discusses the theory and presents the numerical solution of the S-wave models of electron-hydrogen and electron-helium scattering. The Convergent Close-Coupling (CCC) method is used to obtain the numerical results.

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Numerical Study of Interactions between surface waves, currents and hydrography in extreme weather conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
Surface gravity waves significantly affect air-sea interactions, turbulent vertical mixing, ocean currents and hydrography in the upper ocean, particularly during extreme weather events such as hurricanes and winter storms.

DNS of the interaction between a shock wave and a turbulent shear flow: some effects of anisotropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Direct numerical simulation is used to study the interaction of a Mach 1.5 shock wave and various types of anisotropic turbulent flows. We compare the interaction of isotropic, axisymmetric and sheared turbulences (sometimes combined), with a specific ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...
