Wave-Turbulence Decomposition Methods Applied to Tidal Energy Site Assessment
High levels of turbulence have been proven to substantially increase the blade loadings on tidal turbines, outlining the need of properly characterizing turbulence parameters in tidal energy sites.

Nonlinear Wave–Current Interaction in Water of Finite Depth [PDF]
The interaction of nonlinear progressive waves and a uniform current in water of finite depth is investigated analytically by means of the homotopy analysis method (HAM). With HAM, the velocity potential of the flow and the surface elevation are expressed by the Fourier series, and the nonlinear free surface boundary conditions are satisfied by ...

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Modelling longshore sediment transport under asymmetric waves
Two wave theories are applied in calculations of longshore sediment transport rates: the second Stokes approximation and the cnoidal theory. These approaches are used to model sand motion in nearshore locations beyond and within the surf zone.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

Wave–current interaction effects on marine energy converters [PDF]
Abstract Many countries have significant interests in generating electricity using waves and tidal current technologies. In energetic areas, waves and tidal currents interact for modifying the energy resource and impacting on the design conditions. Changes to the wave climate depend on the strength of the current and the relative wave direction. SWAN

White Matter Microstructural Abnormalities in Neonatal Onset Genetic Epilepsy
ABSTRACT Objective Recent evidence indicates that epilepsy is associated with abnormal white matter. If seizures alter white matter, then the impact upon network function, epileptogenesis, and cognition could be pronounced in neonates undergoing rapid developmental myelination. Neonates with epilepsy due to nonstructural genetic causes provide a unique

Wave–current interaction in coastal regions is significant and complicated. Most wave models consider the influence of ocean current and water depth on waves, while the influence of the gradient of the sea bottom slope is not taken into account in most ...

On the decrease of kinetic energy with depth in wave–current interactions [PDF]
AbstractWe study wave–current interactions in two-dimensional water flows with constant vorticity over a flat bed. We establish decay rates for the velocity beneath spatially periodic surface waves without any restrictions on the wave amplitude. The approach relies on complex function theory and overcomes the intricacies inherent to nonlinear flow ...

ABSTRACT Objectives We aimed to determine the frequency of subclinical optic nerve (ON) lesions using MRI, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and visual evoked potentials (VEP) in radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS), and to assess their diagnostic and prognostic significance.
