Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Wave-Particle Interaction in Electrostatic Plasma Turbulences
The stochastic nature of non-resonant acceleration of electrons in one-dimensional electrostatic turbulence is observed in velocity spaces. This stochasticity is found to violate the traditional criterion of resonance overlapping.

Locally Generated Whistler-Mode Waves Before Dipolarization Fronts
Whistler-mode waves, electromagnetic emissions with frequencies between the lower hybrid and electron cyclotron frequencies, are ubiquitous in planetary magnetotails.

A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Relativistic Landau resonances
The possible interactions between plasma waves and relativistic charged particles are considered. An electromagnetic perturbation in the plasma is formulated as an elliptically polarized wave, and the collisionless plasma is described by a distribution ...

A Nonlinear Schrödinger Model for Many-Particle Quantum Systems
Considering both effects of the s-wave scattering and the atom-atom interaction rather than only the effect of the s-wave scattering, we establish a nonlinear Schrödinger model for many-particle quantum systems and we prove the global existence of a ...

High-altitude and high-latitude O+ and H+ outflows: the effect of finite electromagnetic turbulence wavelength [PDF]
The energization of ions, due to interaction with electromagnetic turbulence (i.e. wave-particle interactions), has an important influence on H+ and O+ ions outflows in the polar region.

Adiabatic Wave-Particle Interaction Revisited
In this paper we calculate and visualize the dynamics of an ensemble of electrons trapping in an electrostatic wave of slowly increasing amplitude, illustrating that, despite disordering of particles in angle during the trapping transition as they pass close to X-points, there is still an adiabatic invariant for the great majority of particles that ...

Feasibility of Nitrogen as a Carrier Gas for Inconel Cold Spray in Hydropower Application
N2, despite being nearly two orders of magnitude cheaper than He, is a feasible carrier gas for cold spray Inconel coatings in hydropower repair applications when higher gas temperature and pressure are used. Reducing powder size significantly improved cavitation resistance, while the addition of fine chromium carbide particles further enhanced erosion
