Spatiotemporal Chaos in Interfacial Waves
1991Spatiotemporal chaos occurs in many hydrodynamic systems. This state is distinguished from temporal chaos by at least partial loss of coherence between different spatial regions, and from fully developed turbulence by the absence of a cascade. Several experimental and theoretical examples of spatiotemporal chaos are briefly reviewed.

Intrinsic chaos in a plasma wave
Physics of Fluids B: Plasma Physics, 1990The linear plasma response to an electrostatic wave is described by the Van Kampen–Case–Siewert (VCS) modal structure using Lie transform techniques. The VCS structure, which is well known to give rise to Landau damping, is also proved to be responsible for chaotic particle response and diffusion in phase space in the quasilinear limit.

Wave-particle chaos in the magnetosphere
Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 1994Abstract The nonlinear interaction between the bounced motion of a proton and the kinetic Alfven wave excited in the magnetosphere is studied. Using the Poincare surface of section technique, the motion of the proton is traced numerically in phase space.
