On‐Surface Indigo‐Based Bimolecular Coordination Networks with Programmable Regular or Vitreous Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A previously unreported coordination motif stabilising single Fe atoms by indigo chelation and pyridyl coordination on Au(111) has been revealed. By using planar tritopic pyridyl linkers (TPyB), extended 2D porous networks of indigo3(TPyB)2Fe6 form. These networks can be crystalline or vitreous and offer an environment where individual coordination ...

Photon-graviton pair conversion

open access: yes, 2004
We consider the conversion of gravitons and photons as a four-wave mixing process. A nonlinear coupled systems of equations involving two gravitons and two photons is obtained, and the energy exchange between the different degrees of freedom is found ...

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Spectral Bandwidth and WEC Performance Assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper investigates the dependency of wave energy conversion on the spectral bandwidth of sea-states. To this aim, the performance of an axisymmetrical Wave Energy Converter is assessed in the frequency domain by using a stochastic model in two far ...

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

Semi-Analytical Solution of Optimization on Moon-Pool Shaped WEC

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2016
In order to effectively extract and maximize the energy from ocean waves, a new kind of oscillating-body WEC (wave energy converter) with moon pool has been put forward. The main emphasis in this paper is placed on inserting the damping into the equation

Cool Kitchen: Processing Starch and Eggshell Powder into Sustainable Coatings for Passive Daytime Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A food‐grade cooling composite made from starch and recycled eggshell powder offers a scalable, ultra‐low‐cost solution for passive daytime radiative cooling. Easily prepared using basic kitchen tools, this material empowers communities, even in areas with limited infrastructure, to stay cooler during worsening summer heat waves.

Design and Study of a New Wave Actuator for a Boat

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The design and analysis of a new wave actuator for boats is presented in this paper. The wave actuator is installed beneath the boat hull and converts the hydrodynamic forces generated by rising waves on the boat into translational thrusting forces.
