Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Experimental Study on Power Matching of an Oscillating-buoy Wave Energy Converter

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
To achieve the best match between the oscillating-buoy wave power converter and the generator power, based on the vibration theory and the linear wave theory, the oscillating-buoy wave power converter matching power relation with the wave parameters and ...

Optimal damping profiles for a heaving buoy wave-energy converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper explores optimal damping profiles for a heaving buoy wave energy converter (WEC). The approach is mathematical and the model of Eidsmoen (1995) is used as a basis.

Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Approaches to attributing underwater noise to a wave energy converter [PDF]

open access: yesJASA Express Letters
Radiated noise from marine energy harvesting is of environmental and engineering interest. Here, drifting hydrophones measure underwater noise in the vicinity of a relatively small wave energy converter.

Analysis of the potential of a wave energy conversion system for Maltese waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the analysis of waves in the Maltese waters. Through data analysis the results will highlight the most common waves together with others which yield the largest power. The paper also presents a novel type of wave energy converter with
