Inverse estimation of breaking wave loads on monopile wind turbines
Breaking waves occur in shallow water and cause large forces on offshore wind turbines, which can determine the design of the support structure. Due to the strong nonlinearity and statistical variability of breaking waves, the corresponding loads used in

Nature-based flood protection: using vegetated foreshores for reducing coastal risk
Vegetated foreshores such as salt marshes, mangrove forests and reed fields can reduce wave loads on coastal dikes due to depth-induced wave breaking and wave attenuation by vegetation.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
