Protective Measurement and the Meaning of the Wave Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This article analyzes the implications of protective measurement for the meaning of the wave function. According to protective measurement, a charged quantum system has mass and charge density proportional to the modulus square of its wave function.

Wave dissipation by flexible vegetation

open access: yes, 2011
Dissipation of waves propagating through natural salt marsh vegetation was about half the dissipation expected for rigid vegetation. This low dissipation was predicted by a theoretical model that accounts for bending of vegetation by wave motions.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Motion and wave load analyses of large offshore structures and special vessels in waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and was awarded by Brunel University.Predictions of the environmental loading and induced motional and structural responses are among the most important aspects in the overall design ...

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

The motion of an intense vortex near topography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The initial value problem for the motion of an intense, quasi-geostrophic, equivalent-barotropic, singular vortex near an infinitely long escarpment is studied in three parts.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

Wave propagators for transient wave in one-dimensional media

open access: yes, 1996
Wave propagators are introduced for transient wave propagation in a general one-dimensional medium. The definition of wave propagators is based upon a wave splitting technique.
