Waves and wave overtopping on reservoir structures
Dams and Reservoirs, 2010This paper reviews recent guidance (and associated calculation tools) to predict waves and wave overtopping of reservoir containment structures. It appraises the applicability of recent advances in overtopping analysis intended primarily for coastal structures, but argues that they can equally be applied to the analysis of dams and other reservoir ...

Neural network modelling of wave overtopping at coastal structures
[EN] A method has been developed to estimate wave overtopping discharges for a wide range of coastal structures. The prediction method is based on Neural Network modelling.

Wave Overtopping on Coastal Structures
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1989Monochromatic wave overtopping over the crest of an impermeable coastal structure located on a sloping beach is predicted numerically by expanding the numerical model developed previously for predicting wave run-up on such a structure located on the horizontal seabed.

Irregular Wave Runup and Overtopping
Journal of the Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Division, 1978A cumulative frequency distribution function for the runup elevation of irregular waves is useful in the design of many coastal structures. Such a relationship would help a designer to quantify trade offs between structure geometry and allowable overtopping.

Wave Overtopping and Overwash of Dunes
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 2011Wave-induced overwash of sand dunes may cause rapid profile changes and possible dune destruction, thus increasing the flood risk landward of dunes. Accurate modeling of the wave overwash processes is therefore essential in predicting dune profile evolution during overwash events. However, available field and laboratory data are very limited.

Wave transmission by overtopping due to random waves
Ocean Engineering, 1988Abstract Experimental studies of wave transmission by overtopping for a smooth impermeable breakwater with 1:1.5 slope under both regular and random waves were conducted. A resulting relationship between the transmission coefficient (determined by wave height and wave period) and a breakwater height above mean water level normalized with the height ...

Estimation of Wave Overtopping Rates for Irregular Waves
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1997The Shore Protection Manual (SPM) method for estimating the volume rate of wave overtopping under irregular waves is reviewed and extended. This article presents an improved method of applying a monochromatic wave overtopping equation to irregular waves. The improvement is to remove an assumption made by the current SPM method.

Wave Overtopping Characteristics of the Wave Dragon
2006Simulation work has been used extensively with the Wave dragon and other overtopping devices to analyse the power production performance of them and to optimise the structural design and the control strategy. A time domain approach to this is well documented in Jakobsen & Frigaard 1999.

Prediction of Irregular Wave Overtopping
2023Rates of wave overtopping of structures can be predicted by means of an equation presented in the Shore Protection Manual (SPM)(eg. 7-6, U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers, Coastal Engineering Research Center, 1975; Weggel, 1976). Implicit in the use of this equation is the assumption of monochromatic waves; i.e., waves of uniform height and period.
