Overtopping a truncated planar beach [PDF]
Run-up on a truncated impermeable beach is analysed theoretically and experimentally to find the volume of fluid, associated with a single wave event, that flows over the end of the beach.

Wave Overtopping of Stepped Revetments [PDF]
Wave overtopping—i.e., excess of water over the crest of a coastal protection infrastructure due to wave run-up—of a smooth slope can be reduced by introducing slope roughness. A stepped revetment ideally constitutes a slope with uniform roughness and can reduce overtopping volumes of breaking waves up to 60% compared to a smooth slope.

SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF WAVE-BY-WAVE OVERTOPPING AT VERTICAL SEAWALLS [PDF]
Over the years, many physical and numerical modelling research has been carried out to investigate the wave-structure interactions and the resulting mean overtopping characteristics at sea defences. The most reliable empirical predication formulae for prediction of mean overtopping rates have been reported in the overtopping manual, EurOtop (2018).

Traditional concrete revetments can destroy the ecological environment and the water landscape. An increasing number of ecological revetment structures have been applied in coastal, lake, and river regulation projects.

THE WAVE OVERTOPPING SIMULATOR [PDF]
The wave overtopping simulator is a device which will be able to simulate overtopping waves at the crest and at the inner slope of a dike, levee or embankment in situ. The idea is that real waves are not required to simulate only the overtopping part of waves and that enough information on overtopping waves has been developed by years of research, to ...

Experimental Investigation of Wave Propagation and Overtopping over Seawalls on a Reef Flat
A series of physical model tests were performed to investigate the wave propagation, pressure, and wave overtopping processes for vertical and sloped seawalls on the reef flat.

Remote Sensing of Wave Overtopping on Dynamic Coastal Structures
The development of coastal regions combined with rising sea levels is leading to an increasing risk of coastal flooding caused by wave overtopping of natural beaches and engineered coastal structures.

Overtopping of Coastal Structures by Tsunami Waves [PDF]
Following the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, Japanese tsunami protection guidelines stipulate that coastal defences should ensure that settlements are shielded from the coastal inundation that would result from Level 1 tsunami events (with return periods in the order of about 100 years).

Overtopping breakwater for energy conversion (OBREC) is integration between breakwater and wave energy converter (WEC) that allows incoming waves to be stored in the reservoir.

This paper presents a study of run-up/overtopping over a smooth impermeable dike with promenade using 2D and 3D mesh-based and mesh-free numerical models and results from 2D physical modelling for strong energetic incident waves.
