Coastal Structures 2003, 2004
This paper presents a summary of extensive research carried out on wave overtopping parameters over the last few years. Nevertheless, some aspects are worth mentioning for further research. Wind plays an important role for small overtopping volumes because overtopping water is transferred into spray and the loading of landward slope and the dike crests

THE INTERNATIONAL DATABASE ON WAVE OVERTOPPING
Coastal Engineering 2004, 2005One of the main objectives within the EU-project CLASH (www.clash-eu.org) was to create a generic prediction method for wave overtopping at coastal structures by means of the Neural Network technique. An extensive and homogeneous database on wave overtopping was set up within CLASH, mainly with the aim to be used for the training process of the Neural ...

Waves and wave overtopping on reservoir structures
Dams and Reservoirs, 2010This paper reviews recent guidance (and associated calculation tools) to predict waves and wave overtopping of reservoir containment structures. It appraises the applicability of recent advances in overtopping analysis intended primarily for coastal structures, but argues that they can equally be applied to the analysis of dams and other reservoir ...

Wave Overtopping on Coastal Structures
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1989Monochromatic wave overtopping over the crest of an impermeable coastal structure located on a sloping beach is predicted numerically by expanding the numerical model developed previously for predicting wave run-up on such a structure located on the horizontal seabed.

Full Scale Wave Overtopping Measurements
Coastal Structures 2003, 2004The objective of this paper is to describe the full scale infrastructure that was used to measure wave overtopping at the Zeebrugge rubble mound breakwater. Detailed data from one storm event and the results for eight storm events are shown. Therefore, first the measurement site and the specific set-up used for wave overtopping measurements is ...

Irregular Wave Runup and Overtopping
Journal of the Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Division, 1978A cumulative frequency distribution function for the runup elevation of irregular waves is useful in the design of many coastal structures. Such a relationship would help a designer to quantify trade offs between structure geometry and allowable overtopping.

Estimation of Wave Overtopping Rates for Irregular Waves
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1997The Shore Protection Manual (SPM) method for estimating the volume rate of wave overtopping under irregular waves is reviewed and extended. This article presents an improved method of applying a monochromatic wave overtopping equation to irregular waves. The improvement is to remove an assumption made by the current SPM method.

Wave transmission by overtopping due to random waves
Ocean Engineering, 1988Abstract Experimental studies of wave transmission by overtopping for a smooth impermeable breakwater with 1:1.5 slope under both regular and random waves were conducted. A resulting relationship between the transmission coefficient (determined by wave height and wave period) and a breakwater height above mean water level normalized with the height ...
