Automated Mounting of Pole-Shoe Wedges in Linear Wave Power Generators—Using Industrial Robotics and Proximity Sensors

open access: yesMachines, 2017
A system for automatic mounting of high tolerance wedges inside a wave power linear generator is proposed. As for any renewable energy concept utilising numerous smaller generation units, minimising the production cost per unit is vital for ...

Assessing wave energy converters in the gulf of Mexico using a multi-criteria approach

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2022
The wave power in the Gulf of Mexico was analyzed, using 42 years (1979–2020) of simulated data, with ERA-5 winds to force the WAVEWATCH III wave model. The model was successfully validated with three NDBC buoys, 42,055, 42,001 and 42,002.

Double Fed Induction Generator Control Design Based on a Fuzzy Logic Controller for an Oscillating Water Column System

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Oscillating water column (OWC) systems are water power generation plants that transform wave kinetic energy into electrical energy by a surrounded air column in a chamber that changes its pressure through the waves motion.

Long-Term (1979–2024) Variation Trend in Wave Power in the South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Wave power (WP) is a strategic oceanic resource. Previous studies have extensively researched the long-term variations in WP in the South China Sea (SCS) for energy planning and utilization. This study extends the analysis of long-term trends to the last

On the Optimal Pole Width for Direct Drive Linear Wave Power Generators Using Ferrite Magnets

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In this work, ferrite magnet linear generators for wave power applications are considered. These machines operate at unusually low speeds, around and even below 1 m/s, at which the optimal geometry differs from standard machines, since the copper loss ...
