Hydrophobicity Modulated Interfacial Water Distribution for Enhanced Kinetics of HER

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In electrocatalysis, hydrophilic structures improve interfacial water management by forming a continuous, compact water film that facilitates proton/hydrogen transport, thereby lowering the effective adsorption free energy of H*. By contrast, hydrophobic structures enable rapid gas transport and promote the capture and local enrichment of gaseous ...

The Third‐Generation Magnetic Super‐Stable Mineralizer: Complete Removal and Separation of Multiple Heavy Metal Pollutants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3rd‐generation magnetic super‐stable mineralizer M‐MgAl‐700 features a core‐shell structure, strong superparamagnetism, large surface area, and abundant oxygen defects. It achieves exceptional Cd(II) and As(V) mineralization capacities, reducing both pollutants in co‐contaminated water and soil to meet national standards.

Breaking the Bottleneck in Limit of Detection of Surface Refractive Index Sensing by Harnessing Meta‐Waveguide Microring Resonators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mode splitting in meta‐waveguide microring resonators (MWMRs) effectively suppresses baseline drift and measurement noise while maintaining high refractive‐index sensitivity. This reflection‐induced mode splitting strategy enables quantitative detection of ultra‐weak surface perturbations and establishes MWMRs as a robust, drift‐immune platform for ...

Ageing and wave reflection

Journal of Hypertension, 1992
To determine the effects of wave reflection on the increase in arterial pressure that occurs with age and its association with concomitant changes in both the magnitude and contour of the arterial pressure pulse. While age-related changes in mean pressure are similar in central and peripheral arteries, changes in pulse pressure and pulse waveform ...

Refraction and reflection of chemical waves

Physical Review Letters, 1993
When a chemical wave encounters a boundary between two media with different wave speeds, refraction and reflection can occur. We demonstrate experimentally that the refraction of chemical waves obeys Snell's law. Reflection of chemical waves has been observed for the first time.

Reflection of a Shock Wave at a Surface

The Physics of Fluids, 1966
A new finite difference method is employed in obtaining numerical solutions for the complete Navier-Stokes equations. The physical problem treated is the time-dependent propagation of a one-dimensional disturbance, which is produced by the forward motion of a piston through a compressible, viscous, thermally conducting, perfect diatomic gas and its ...

Wave reflection in 3D conditions

Coastal Engineering, 2010
Based on recent experiments carried out in wave basin on breakwaters with armour layer of rocks and cubes, this paper examines the dependence of the reflection coefficient on wave directional spreading and obliquity. Results suggest that long-crested and short-crested waves give similar reflection.
