A Moving Boundary Wave Run-Up Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A numerical model has been developed for the simulation long wave propagation and run-up accounting for the bottom friction. Shallow water continuity and momentum equations are solved numerically by a two time step finite difference method. The upwind/downwind method is applied to the nonlinear advection terms and the continuity equation.

Modeling of Solitary Wave Interaction with Curved Face Seawalls Using Numerical Method

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
This paper considers the solitary wave interaction with seawalls of different curved geometries and sloped faces using numerical modeling. This interaction was simulated using the Finite Volume Method-Volume of Fraction (FVM-VOF) approach.

Study of the tsunami wave run-up using dimensional analysis

open access: yesWasit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2021
Tsunamis are among the most severe natural hazards known to man, and they have claimed thousands of lives and destroyed vast amounts of property throughout history.

WAVE RUN-UP ON A NATURAL BEACH

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1988
The swash oscillation, waves and water particle velocity in the surf zone were measured by using 16 mm memo-motion cameras and electromagnetic current meters. It was inferred that incident waves form two-dimensional standing waves with the anti-node in the swash slope. Separation of the incident waves and reflected waves was attempted with good results

Wave Run-Ups and Overtopping Affected by Oblique Wave Approaches and Currents

open access: yesSlovak Journal of Civil Engineering, 2022
To quantify the effect of a current on the height of a wave’s run-up and overtopping combined with an oblique wave approach, the “FlowDike” hydraulic research project was carried out. Tests were performed on two dike slopes of 1:3 and 1:6.

Wave run-up on permeable fixed reveted slopes

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2014
A numerical model of surface wave movement and water filtration in saturated-unsaturated porous medium has been developed. The model can be used to define the parameters of the wave run-up on the slope protected with a permeable fixed layer. The model is

Benchmark experimental study on wave run-ups of fixed four-rounded-square-column array in regular waves

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2022
Wave run-up on surface-piercing columns is an important phenomenon in offshore engineering. Previous studies have mainly focused on a single column and circular column arrays.

THE EFFECT OF WAVE ENERGY SPECTRA ON WAVE RUN-UP

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1968
Previous investigations carried out "by the Delft Hydraulics laboratory have shown the necessity of applying irregular waves m studies on wave run-up. The installation of a wave generator driven "by hydraulic actuators has created the possibility of producing irregular waves with arbitrary wave spectra.

Wave run-up on rubble breakwaters: spectral effects [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Maritime Engineering, 2005
Seven sets of data for wave run-up on a rubble mound breakwater were combined and re-analysed, with full-scale, large-scale and small-scale model test results being taken into account. The dimensionless wave run-up value Ru2%/Hm0 was considered, where Ru2% is the wave run-up height exceeded by 2% of the wave run-up events and Hm0 is the significant ...

Analysis of the pressure at a vertical barrier due to extreme wave run-up over variable bathymetry

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2017
The pressure load at a vertical barrier caused by extreme wave run-up is analysed numerically, using the conformal mapping method to solve the two-dimensional free surface Euler equations in a pseudo-spectral model.
