Abstract : While investigating the Tsunami wave project, a numerical method was devised to solve the initial boundary value problem for the equations of the non-linear shallow water theory. The case of one horizontal dimension was considered in a domain bounded by a shore at one end, with the motion of the shoreline taken into account.

Single-wave run-up on sloping beaches
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1976Possibilities of high shoreline amplification and run-up are investigated. A shoreline amplification of magnitude 5·38 and a tsunamigenic (deep water) amplification of magnitude 5·71 are obtained from single waves without analytic or computational difficulties.

Nonlinear Theory of Sea Wave Run-Up
1989Analytical results of the sea wave run-up on a beach are reviewed. The case of flooding by waves without breaking, which corresponds to the so-called surging breaker, is analysed. An adequate model for this problem is derived from the nonlinear theory of shallow water.

Wave Action in Gun Run-up Springs
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1941A number of articles and pamphlets have appeared on the waves and oscillations that occur in springs used for commercial purposes, notably the valve springs for internal combustion engines, and it has been shown that the forces experienced, and other results obtained, are very different from what would have been expected from calculations which ...

Calculation of Wave Run-up on Slopes
Civil Engineering in the Oceans VI, 2005In this paper, a two-layer model of a stream of water wave body on a sloping bed presented. In this model, the velocity of upper layer has forward direction, but the lower one has backward direction. The effect of lower layer on upper layer is defined with a partial coefficient.

Wave Run-Up on Offshore Windturbine Foundations
2005In the last decade, several offshore wind-farms are built and offshore wind energy promises to be a suitable alternative to provide green energy. However, there still are some engineering challenges in placing the wind turbine foundations offshore. For example, unexpected damage to boat landing facilities and platforms has been caused by wave run-up ...
