Inverse scattering with diffusing waves

We consider the problem of imaging the optical properties of a highly scattering medium probed by diffuse light. An analytic solution to this problem is derived from the singular value decomposition of the forward-scattering operator, which leads to explicit inversion formulas for the inverse scattering problem with diffusing waves.

Transmittance for wave-packet scattering

Different expressions for the transmittance in wave-packet scattering in one dimension are examined. Special attention is paid to the difficulties when the initial packet ρ(0) has negative momentum components. A general formula is provided for this case, and the domain of applicability of a simple approximate expression is indicated.

There exist bound gravity-capillary waves that move at the speed of dominate waves on the ocean surface, besides free gravity-capillary waves that satisfy the dispersion relation. The radar Doppler spectra are believed to be the sum of two parts: one is attributed to free waves, and the other is attributed to bound waves.

Scattering by a spherical potential is discussed in all dimensions by one formulation using the partial-wave expansion method. The optical theorem relating the total scattering cross section σ to the forward scattering amplitude f(0) is derived.

In this paper we consider the screening effectiveness of an infilled trench for isolation from near-surface ground-transmitted vibrations. Diffusive Waves in a Dilating Scattering Medium

We consider the propagation of a diffusive wave in a scattering medium submitted to a homogeneous expansion. The light multiply scattered by a glass spheres sample is measured. We analyze the variations of the scattered light when the material and the optical wavelength are dilated.
