Propagation of solitary waves through signicantly curved shallow water channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Propagation of solitary waves in curved shallow water channels of constant depth and width is investigated by carrying out numerical simulations based on the generalized weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive Boussinesq model.

Huygens description of resonance phenomena in subwavelength hole arrays

open access: yes, 2004
We develop a point-scattering approach to the plane-wave optical transmission of subwavelength metal hole arrays. We present a real space description instead of the more conventional reciprocal space description; this naturally produces interfering ...

Wave Transmission by Overtopping

open access: yesJournal of the Waterways, Harbors and Coastal Engineering Division, 1972
This report presents a semi-empirical theory for ocean wave transmission past breakwaters by overtopping, based on an evaluation of the energy content of the overtopping water. While several coefficients are subject to further investigation, the data show that the general form of the equations developed is correct.

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Evolution of surface gravity waves over a submarine canyon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The effects of a submarine canyon on the propagation of ocean surface waves are examined with a three-dimensional coupled-mode model for wave propagation over steep topography.

Wave Transmission Behind Low-Crested Structures [PDF]

open access: yesCoastal Structures 2003, 2004
This paper describes how, with the European Union funded project DELOS, a wide database containing more than 2000 2D laboratory tests on wave transmission behind low created structures has been collected. The data has been reanalyzed in order to test and improve the reliability of the existing design formulae by improving the description of the ...

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Electroactive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrocatalysis is crucial in sustainable energy conversion as it enables efficient chemical transformations. The review discusses how metal–organic frameworks can revolutionize this field by offering tailorable structures and active site tunability, enabling efficient and selective electrocatalytic processes.

Analytical Solution of the O-X Mode Conversion Problem

open access: yes, 2010
The excitation of a slow extraordinary wave in a overdense plasma from an ordinary wave impinging on the critical layer in the plane spanned by the density gradient and magnetic field is solved analytically by formulating the problem in terms of a ...

Cool Kitchen: Processing Starch and Eggshell Powder into Sustainable Coatings for Passive Daytime Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A food‐grade cooling composite made from starch and recycled eggshell powder offers a scalable, ultra‐low‐cost solution for passive daytime radiative cooling. Easily prepared using basic kitchen tools, this material empowers communities, even in areas with limited infrastructure, to stay cooler during worsening summer heat waves.
