Improved defibrillator waveform safety factor with biphasic waveforms

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1983
Excitation thresholds and arrhythmias were studied in "adult-type" cultured chick embryo myocardial cells after electric field stimulation with biphasic, truncated, and rectified underdamped RLC (resistance-inductance-capacitance) type waveforms, to test the hypothesis that the negative phase of biphasic waveforms ameliorates membrane dysfunction ...

Spectrally Constrained MIMO Radar Waveform Design Based on Mutual Information

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2019
We address the waveform design problem for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar in spectrally crowded environments. We exploit the mutual information between the target reflections and the target responses as the design metric.

MIMO Radar Waveform Design in the Presence of Multiple Targets and Practical Constraints

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2020
This paper deals with the joint design of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar transmit waveform and receive filter to enhance multiple targets detectability in the presence of signal-dependent (clutter) and independent disturbance. The worst-case

Extracting current waveforms of appliances from mixed current waveform of their current waveforms and unidentified current waveforms

2016 IEEE 12th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA), 2016
We propose a method of extracting current waveforms of appliances from the current waveform, which is a mixture of their current waveforms and unidentified current waveforms. The purpose of the method is for monitoring the load of individual appliances by analyzing the current waveform on a power distribution board.

Hierarchical Representation of Waveforms

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1979
Ehrich and Foith have proposed an approach to the hierarchical representation of waveforms based on peak dominance relations. This correspondence proposes an alternative approach, derived from concepts of fuzzy connectedness. It also discusses the possibility of extending this approach to the description of curves and of images.

Joint Design of Transmit Waveform and Mismatch Filter in the Presence of Interrupted Sampling Repeater Jamming

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2020
In this letter, a method is proposed to suppress the interrupted sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) by jointly designing the radar waveform and mismatch filter.

Frequency Coded Waveforms for Adaptive Waveform Radar

2006 40th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, 2006
We consider the use of frequency coded sequences for adaptive waveform radar. In particular, we investigate the joint use of stepped frequency chirps, Costas sequences, and pushing sequences to form an effective signal set for adaptive waveform radar.

Waveform synthesis for transmission of complex waveforms

RAWCON 99. 1999 IEEE Radio and Wireless Conference (Cat. No.99EX292), 2003
A new transmit architecture for digital radios is proposed that emphasizes the use of pre-computed waveforms stored in memory instead of real-time computation. We present results that show how direct synthesis techniques can be extended to directly generate many types of digitally modulated waveforms such as PSK or QAM.

Hemodynamic Waveform Analysis

The Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, 2001
The pulmonary artery catheter provides the opportunity to acquire indirectly important diagnostic and therapeutic information about the function of the two pumping chambers of the heart--the right and left ventricles--during the two phases of the cardiac cycle--systole and diastole.

Electroglottogram waveform types

Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1988
Electroglottography is a useful, non-invasive technique that can assist in the assessment of vocal fold dysfunction. However, if it is to become a useful clinical tool, there is a need for normative studies of the electroglottogram waveform types that characterize trained professional voice users, untrained non-professional speakers and patients with ...
