In this paper we review the most promising 5G waveform candidates and their robustness to the Railway context and particularly the high speed. We surf in addition the compatibility of these waveforms to the short packet communication and the MIMO technologies which are fundamental components of future wireless communication systems.

This paper presents a flexible physical layer (PHY) implementation based on the National Instruments (NI) USRP-RIO software-defined radio (SDR) platform. The implementation allows to reconfigure important parameters of the physical layer during run-time to create a multitude of modern waveforms.

Improved defibrillator waveform safety factor with biphasic waveforms
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1983Excitation thresholds and arrhythmias were studied in "adult-type" cultured chick embryo myocardial cells after electric field stimulation with biphasic, truncated, and rectified underdamped RLC (resistance-inductance-capacitance) type waveforms, to test the hypothesis that the negative phase of biphasic waveforms ameliorates membrane dysfunction ...

Ventilator waveforms are graphic representations of changes in pressure, flow, and volume within a ventilator circuit. The changes in these parameters over time may be displayed individually (scalars) or plotted one against another (pressure-volume and flow-volume loops).

Frequency Coded Waveforms for Adaptive Waveform Radar
2006 40th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, 2006We consider the use of frequency coded sequences for adaptive waveform radar. In particular, we investigate the joint use of stepped frequency chirps, Costas sequences, and pushing sequences to form an effective signal set for adaptive waveform radar.

Hierarchical Representation of Waveforms
IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1979Ehrich and Foith have proposed an approach to the hierarchical representation of waveforms based on peak dominance relations. This correspondence proposes an alternative approach, derived from concepts of fuzzy connectedness. It also discusses the possibility of extending this approach to the description of curves and of images.

Spectrally Constrained MIMO Radar Waveform Design Based on Mutual Information
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2019We address the waveform design problem for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar in spectrally crowded environments. We exploit the mutual information between the target reflections and the target responses as the design metric.
