Wideband MIMO Radar Waveform Design

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2019
We consider the design of wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar waveforms to approximate a desired beampattern and achieve prescribed space-frequency nulling in a space-frequency region of interest. A general design model involving modulus, power, and energy constraints on the probing waveforms is introduced.

Waveform design for QAM-FBMC systems

2017 IEEE 18th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2017
Due to its spectral efficiency and well-localized spectrum, a quadrature amplitude modulation based filter-bank multi-carrier (QAM-FBMC) is considered as one of the candidate for 5G mobile communications. In this paper, we propose a novel waveform design for the QAM-FBMC system considering time dispersion parameter.

Robust waveform design for MIMO radars

2010 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2010
The problem of robust waveform design for multiple-input, multiple-output radars equipped with widely-spaced antennas is addressed here. Robust design is needed as a number of parameters are unknown, e.g., the target scattering covariance matrix and, possibly, the clutter covariance matrix.

On waveform design for optimal target discrimination

International Journal of Imaging Systems and Technology, 1992
AbstractProbability theory is applied to the problem of radar target discrimination. The theory is used to construct an excitation waveform (an enhanced discrimination pulse) which maximizes the posterior odds in favor of one target over the other. It is shown that the enhanced discrimination pulse has its spectrum concentrated near the frequency where

Waveform Design with Spectral Coexistence

2019 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2019
To ensure spectral compatibility between radar and communication systems, the radar waveform design of spectrum shaping is considered. The weighted squared-error between the designed Energy Spectrum Density (ESD) and the desired ESD is developed as figure of merit to minimize.

Designing radar waveforms

1999
Detection performance is optimized and range and doppler both improved by maximizing the SNR. Since this needs the pulse to have high energy, long pulses are required unless a very high power transmitter is available. Long pulses also permit good doppler accuracy, but, for simple pulses, give poor range accuracy.

Waveform design for electroseismic exploration

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006
Electroseismic (ES) exploration remotely identifies the presence of hydrocarbons using the conversion of electromagnetic energy to seismic energy. These conversions are relatively larger in a porous, permeable resistive body (such as an oil or gas reservoir) when compared with background conversions.

A Throughput Enhanced JTIDS Waveform Design

2018
JTIDS is the active service Data-Link of the USA and is playing an important role in modern warfare. However, the low throughput of 115 kbps becomes its bottle neck. In this paper, a throughput enhanced JTIDS waveform with max throughput of 1.1 Mbps is proposed. Multi-rate LDPC and GMSK are adopted to achieve the throughput.

Developments in radar waveform design

12th International Conference on Microwaves and Radar. MIKON-98. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.98EX195), 2002
The design of radar waveforms has made significant advances over the past two decades. This has been prompted both by increasingly stringent radar performance requirements and the development of high-speed digital processing hardware. The purpose of this paper is to review two specific examples of modern waveform design, and to attempt to make some ...
