Probabilistic Approach to Seismic Waveform Inversion
Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 2007, 2007Elastic waves carry substantial information about the characteristics of the medium they propagate in. However, most of the current methods which use elastic waves for engineering evaluations, only utilize a limited portion of this information, such as peak return frequency or dispersion curve.

Inferring interior properties of the Sun from photospheric measurements of the seismic wavefield constitutes the helioseismic inverse problem. Deviations in seismic measurements (such as wave travel times) from their fiducial values estimated for a given model of the solar interior imply that the model is inaccurate.

Velocity and Inverse-Q Inversion by Waveform Tomography
78th EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2016, 2016Seismic waveform tomography can invert for the velocity and inverse-Q variations simultaneously. In this abstract, considering the magnitude and units differences between the velocity and the inverse-Q in the simultaneous inversion, we should apply normalisation to both the velocity model and the inverse-Q model.

Full Waveform Inversion of Cross-Dipole Acoustic Waveforms
International Petroleum Technology Conference, 2016Abstract In the present study, we examine the possibility to estimate the anisotropic properties of formations from the waveforms obtained by acoustic logging using numerical simulation. Our numerical model includes a vertical borehole in anisotropic layer with various azimuths.

Adjustive full waveform inversion
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2015, 2015One fundamental challenge of full waveform inversion(FWI) is the local minimum issue caused by the cycle skipping between the predicted and acquired data. To overcome this challenge and achieve a successful inversion, a good initial model becomes a necessary ingredient of FWI.

Hybrid inversion, elastic impedance inversion, and prestack waveform inversion
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2001, 2001This paper compares the results of hybrid inversion, elastic impedance inversion, and prestack waveform inversion on a single data set. The method used for prestack inversion is a Monte-Carlo-based optimization method called genetic algorithm (GA). GA performs a full waveform inversion of normal moveout (NMO) uncorrected prestack seismic data, giving a
