Molecular and Cellular Hallmarks of Age‐Related Vestibular Hair Cell Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes single‐cell RNA‐seq transcriptomes, advanced imaging, and electrophysiology to examine universal and cell‐type‐specific aging signatures of vestibular hair cells. The study shows that impaired hair bundle function is a key driver of age‐related vestibular dysfunction.

Electrically Tunable Piezotronic Transistor by Coupling Interface Polar Symmetry and Strain Gradient

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A macroscale tip‐induced strain gradient generates bulk piezo‐charges in GaN, enabling bias‐controlled shielding and selective Schottky barrier modulation. This strain‐gradient piezotronic transistor exhibits electrically switchable high‐ and low‐sensitivity states, providing ultrahigh strain sensitivity and wide tunability for adaptive mechanical ...

Full waveform inversion and Lagrange multipliers

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International
SUMMARY Full-waveform inversion (FWI) is an effective method for imaging subsurface properties using sparsely recorded data. It involves solving a wave propagation problem to estimate model parameters that accurately reproduce the data.

Real‐Time Ferroelectric Domain Wall Dynamics During Electric Poling and Depoling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Real‐time visualization of domain wall dynamics during alternating‐current poling, direct‐current poling, and electrical depoling in relaxor‐PT ferroelectric single crystals reveals distinct field‐dependent pathways and strong path dependence. Instant polarized light microscopy uncovers reversible domain wall nucleation, motion, and reconfiguration ...

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,

Systemic Nanomechanical Single‐Cell Profiling Reveals Mechanophenotype Transitions Under Therapeutic Perturbation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell mechanomics demonstrates that pharmacological perturbation changes cytoskeletal and cortical structure, suppressing cancer cell invasiveness. By integrating atomic force microscopy (AFM)‐based cortical measurements with stimulated emission depletion (STED)‐resolved adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, this approach identifies nanoscale ...

Human Foetal Neuroblasts Exhibit BK Channel‐Dependent Membrane Voltage Oscillations upon Depolarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Primary cultures of neuroblasts isolated from the nucleus basalis of Meynert of 12‐weeks‐old human foetuses were prepared. Whole‐cell patch‐clamp recordings were performed by injecting a depolarizing stimulus current (+500 pA; 500 ms), and the membrane voltage recorded; this stimulus current evoked periodic‐like oscillations in membrane voltage ...

An Innervated Human Skin Equivalent that Electrically Encodes Mechanical and Thermal Stimuli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innervated human skin equivalent is integrated with high‐density microelectrode arrays to reveal how engineered free nerve ending–like structures translate touch and temperature into electrical codes. Mechanical indentation and thermal stimulation engage the engineered somatosensory circuitry and evoke distinct firing and waveform signatures ...
