Optimal Pressure Waveforms for Pressure-Limited Ventilation
Mathematical Medicine and Biology, 1987In this paper, we find the pressure waveform that minimizes the work of distending the alveoli in the lungs while achieving the desired mean airway pressure and alveolar tidal volume. The model used takes into account the compliance of the airway.

Waveform optimization for FDA Radar
2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2019This paper addresses the problem of transmit signal design for target localization in a frequency diverse array (FDA) radar. For this purpose, we derive the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) for target localization in FDA radar. The derived CRB is optimized with respect to the transmit signal parameters.

Optimal recognition of neuronal waveforms
Biological Cybernetics, 1979Statistically optimal methods for identifying single unit activity in multiple unit recordings are discussed. These methods take into account both the nerve impulse waveforms and the firing patterns of the units. A generalized least-squares fit procedure is shown to be the optimal recognition scheme under some reasonable statistical assumptions, but ...

Optimized FM PCL Radar Waveform
2006 International Radar Symposium, 2006To make a balance between time of detection and resolution of detection in radar, it must select an optimized time interval for integrations and signal bandwidth. In this paper, a new algorithm for finding best width of window and bandwidth of the FM signals for FM PCL radar is designed.

WAVEFORM RELAXATION BASED CIRCUIT OPTIMIZATION
COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 1991A multicomputer implementation of a circuit optimization program is presented. The program, called COCO, is tailored for the design problems encountered when the large signal dynamic response of VLSI circuits is to be optimized. The optimization part of the program runs on a host computer and controls the action of a concurrent circuit simulation ...

Nonquadratic Regularization for Waveform Optimization
2006 IEEE Conference on Radar, 2006An adaptive algorithm for eigen-based waveform optimization is presented. The algorithm is capable of improving the matched filter signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of a radar operating in a colored interference environment while simultaneously constraining the shape of the matched filter response. To arrive at the algorithm cost function,

A Novel Waveform Optimization Framework
IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019It is well known that the nonlinear frequency modulation (NLFM) waveform with the advantage that it can shape the power spectral density (PSD) to provide a radar matched filter output with lower sidelobe without the loss of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) when compared with the linear frequency modulation (LFM) waveform.

Optimization of signal waveforms
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1963A technique is described whereby it is possible to determine a set of waveforms that minimize the error rate for a digital communication system. The waveforms are generated from a finite set of orthogonal waveforms. Each character waveform has the same energy as any other character waveform.

Continuous MIMO Radar Waveform Optimization
2019 IEEE International Conference on Signal, Information and Data Processing (ICSIDP), 2019Current waveform optimization for colocated Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar focuses on pulsed radar. In this paper, we study waveform design for continuous waveform MIMO radar that steers transmit beams toward different directions in a time-division mode.

Optimal Waveform Morphology for Defibrillation
1992Since the first human implant of a completely implantable cardiac defibrillator in 1980, research has focused on making the smallest, most efficient device. Currently the main size constraints of these devices are the battery and capacitor sizes [1]. If energy requirements for defibrillation could be reduced without affecting the efficacy of the device,
