AbstractWe develop a notion of wavefront set aimed at characterizing in Fourier space the directions along which a distribution behaves or not as an element of a specific Besov space. Subsequently we prove an alternative, albeit equivalent characterization of such wavefront set using the language of pseudodifferential operators.

Angle-based wavefront sensing enabled by the near fields of flat optics
There is a long history of using angle sensors to measure wavefront. The best example is the Shack-Hartmann sensor. Compared to other methods of wavefront sensing, angle-based approach is more broadly used in industrial applications and scientific ...

Confusion in differential piston measurement with the pyramid wavefront sensor
Context. The pyramid was proven to be a highly sensitive and versatile wave-front sensor (WFS) and has been selected to be installed on the single conjugate adaptive optics (AO) systems of the extremely large telescope (ELT).

Guidestar-free image-guided wavefront shaping [PDF]
Optical imaging through turbid samples and fibers is made possible by adaptive correction of scattering guided by image quality. Optical imaging through scattering media is a fundamental challenge in many applications.

Three-dimensional spatiotemporal focusing of holographic patterns
Three-dimensional computer-generated holography cannot be implemented with temporal focusing. Here, Hernandez et al. use two spatial light modulators to control transverse- and axial-target light distribution, generating spatiotemporally focused patterns

Demonstrating backflow in classical two beams’ interference
The well-known interference pattern of bright and dark fringes was first observed for light beams back in 1801 by Thomas Young. The maximum visibility fringes occur when the irradiance of the two beams is equal, and as the ratio of the beam intensities ...
