Three-dimensional acoustic double-zero-index medium with a Dirac-like point

open access: yes, 2019
We report a design and experimental realization of a three-dimensional (3D) acoustic double-zero-index medium (DZIM), whose effective mass density and compressibility are nearly zero simultaneously.

Manipulating curvature of plane wavefront using holey plates [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
Ultrasonic inspection is commonly used for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE). Phased array ultrasonic transducers (PAUT) enable beamforming and beam steering by implementing electronic time delays. By providing appropriate delays in exciting individual elements, PAUTs can generate a curved wavefront.

Tunable Multifunctional Terahertz Coding Metasurface for Polarization Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Coding metasurfaces (CMs) offer versatile control over electromagnetic waves. Herein, a tunable multifunctional terahertz (THz) metasurface integrated with vanadium dioxide (VO2) is presented, enabling propagation‐phase manipulation of linearly polarized waves and hybrid‐phase control of circularly polarized waves.

Spectral control of broadband light through random media by wavefront shaping

open access: yes, 2012
A random medium can serve as a controllable arbitrary spectral filter with spectral resolution determined by the inverse of the interaction time of the light in the medium.

Spiniform phase-encoded metagratings entangling arbitrary rational-order orbital angular momentum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum entanglements between integer-order and fractional-order orbital angular momentums (OAMs) have been previously discussed. However, the entangled nature of arbitrary rational-order OAM has long been considered a myth due to the absence of an ...

Terahertz Chiral Recognition Based on Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A novel terahertz chiral sensing method based on a multilayer metallic metasurface is proposed. The left‐handed circularly polarized and right‐handed circularly polarized components in the linearly polarized illuminating light into two focal points and convert them back into linear polarization for convenient measurement.

Meta Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensor with large sampling density and large angular field of view: phase imaging of complex objects

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensors measure the local slopes of an incoming wavefront based on the displacement of focal spots created by a lenslet array, serving as key components for adaptive optics for astronomical and biomedical imaging.

Dynamic ultraviolet harmonic beam pattern control by programmable spatial wavefront modulation of near-infrared fundamental beam

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2023
The ultraviolet (UV) wavelength regime is attracting increasing attention because of its growing demand in semiconductor lithography, spectroscopy, and imaging applications owing to its high spatial resolution and high photon energy.

Transmission wavefront shearing interferometry for photoelastic materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A general analysis and experimental validation of transmission wavefront shearing interferometry for photoelastic materials are presented. These interferometers applied to optically isotropic materials produce a single interference pattern related to one

Dielectric Metasurfaces for Optical Wavefront Manipulation

open access: yes, 2020
Metasurfaces are a novel class of optical devices, made up of an array of subwavelength scatterers that can allow unprecedented control of an optical wavefront. These devices can be fabricated using conventional nano and microfabrication processes en masse and have thin and lightweight form factor making them ideal for use in compact and miniaturized ...
