Prism configurations for wavefront sensing

Applied Optics, 1990
This Technical Note mentions two prism configurations for wavefront sensing, both stimulated by works of Roddier. One implements an interferometric pupil-plane sensor, the other a noninterferometric wavefront curvature sensor.

Gemini Wavefront Sensing Subsystems

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
The Acquisition and Guiding Unit of the Gemini Telescope is able to support two major signal-processing functions: off axis active optics correction, and off axis fast guiding and focus. Both functions are performed by using up to two different Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors working in the visible (called the Peripheral Wavefront Sensors).

Phase retrieval based wavefront sensing experimental implementation and wavefront sensing accuracy calibration

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
As a wavefront sensing (WFS) tool, Baseline algorithm, which is classified as the iterative-transform algorithm of phase retrieval, estimates the phase distribution at pupil from some known PSFs at defocus planes. By using multiple phase diversities and appropriate phase unwrapping methods, this algorithm can accomplish reliable unique solution and ...

Active wavefront sensing and wavefront control with SLMs

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
Active systems are becoming more and more prevalent in the the field of optical technology. These systems require not only means of controlling wavefronts but mostly also of sensing wavefronts. This paper shows in four examples how spatial light modulators can be utilized to perform active wavefront sensing and wavefront controlling tasks. The examples

Wide-field wavefront sensing

New Astronomy Reviews, 1998
Abstract We show that a wide-field low-order wavefront sensor in an integrating mode can be used to retrieve information about the turbulence structure of the atmosphere. In particular, the structure function for individual turbulent layers may be derived.

Properties of coherence-gated wavefront sensing

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2007
Coherence-gated wavefront sensing (CGWS) allows the determination of wavefront aberrations in strongly scattering tissue and their correction by adaptive optics. This allows, e.g., the restoration of the diffraction limit in light microscopy. Here, we develop a model, based on ray tracing of ballistic light scattered from a set of discrete scatterers ...

Singleshot multispectral wavefront sensing

Optica Imaging Congress 2024 (3D, AOMS, COSI, ISA, pcAOP)
We demonstrate a speckle-based singleshot multispectral wavefront sensor. The instrument is quantitative and was applied to characterize a single pulse from a high-power laser facility.

High Resolution Wavefront Sensing

2006
High resolution wavefront sensors are devices with a great practical interest since they are becoming a key part in an increasing number of applications like extreme Adaptive Optics. We describe theoretically a novel wavefront sensor, which basically consists of a telescopic system with a linearly increasing amplitude mask placed at the intermediate ...
