Strong Resonant Enhancement in Polarization Anisotropy in Third Harmonic Generation from MoS2 Disks with Subtle Structural Ellipticity

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Strong resonant amplification in polarization anisotropy in third harmonic generation (THG) response from isolated MoS2 disks with small structural ellipticity introduced during fabrication is reported. This is attributed to the high refractive index of the MoS2 disk that supports characteristic anapole resonances combined with the cubic dependence of ...

Ultralow Loss Coupling Tuning of Photonic Accelerators

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A polymer material cured by electron beam is used to perform precise and ultralow loss tuning on photonic accelerators made for highly efficient computation. The versatility of the technique is demonstrated on a large number of directional coupler devices with varying initial coupling ratios and application on a crossbar array for matrix multiplication

Synthesis of Self‐Healing Microbeam by Superposition of Self‐Decelerating Corner‐Diffraction Beams

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Quasi‐nondiffracting (QND) beams boast long‐range propagation and self‐healing capabilities but require complex beam‐forming platforms. In contrast, the photonic nanojets (PNJs) boast simple platforms but are utilized primarily for near‐field applications. This work aims to hybridize the QND and PNJ beam concepts with a view to realize microscale, self‐

Monolithically Integrated Fourier Injected REsonator (FIRE) for Passive Coherent Laser Combination

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Semiconductor diode‐based Fourier Injected REsonator (FIRE). The concept of free space FIRE, formerly known as the self‐Fourier cavity, is demonstrated for the first time on a chip‐scale device. A very high laser array coherence (97.7% fringe visibility), corresponding to single out‐of‐phase supermode operation, is reported.
