A Wireless Soft Optical Blood Sensor for Colonoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This works presents an “add‐on” wireless soft optical blood sensor for the traditional colonoscopy. It can reliably detect bleeding behind the colonoscope's distal tip camera via optical absorption, without optical fibers, and wirelessly transmit data to the processor.

Label‐Free, Sensitive, and Direct Detection of Cardiac Troponin Biomarkers Using Frequency‐Locked Microring Resonators

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
A deployable, chip‐integrated approach to the detection of heart attack biomarkers is demonstrated using silicon photonic microring resonators combined with microfluidics. By applying the Pound–Drever–Hall frequency locking technique, sensor signals are measured with improved signal‐to‐noise ratio, applying this to real‐time, selective readouts.

Colorimetric Sensors with Enhanced Sensitivity and Angle‐independence

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This review discusses various approaches, including the use of photonic crystals and colloidal photonic crystals as structural materials, and surface plasmon resonance as a light manipulation mechanism, to improve the sensitivity of colorimetric sensors.
