Channel Selectivity of Satellite Transponders with the Antenna Combined with a Size-Reduced Metallic Waveguide Bandpass Filter Having Thin Metamaterial Resonators

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Global and intercontinental networking relies on satellite communication. Its wireless communication system always has antennas and their feed assembly comprising waveguides. This makes the satellite payload heavy and costly.

Microwave Components Realized by Additive Manufacturing Techniques [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2020
This paper presents an overview of the use of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies for the implementation of microwave components. Two major technological solutions, based on the AM of plastic materials, are discussed: in the former case, the AM ...

Performance Analysis of Six Electro-Optical Crystals in a High-Bandwidth Traveling Wave Mach-Zehnder Light Modulator

open access: yesPhotonics
In this study, a traveling wave Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator (TW-MZM) was designed and optimized for six different electro-optical (EO) crystals: lithium niobate (LNB), potassium niobate (KNB), lithium titanate (LTO), beta barium borate (BBO ...

Second-Harmonic Generation in Suspended AlGaAs Waveguides: A Comparative Study

open access: yesMicromachines, 2020
Due to adjustable modal birefringence, suspended AlGaAs optical waveguides with submicron transverse sections can support phase-matched frequency mixing in the whole material transparency range, even close to the material bandgap, by tuning the width-to ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Reverse Ridge Silicon Strip Waveguide and Silica Slot Waveguide Structure for the Dispersion at 1550 nm

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We have proposed a reverse ridge strip waveguide and a slot waveguide structure for the dispersion compensation at 1550 nm wavelength. The resonance between strip- and slot-waveguide modes has been used to calculate the dispersion at the required ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

A method for generating a microwave vortex field [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2019
In this paper, we propose an on-end structure of a circular waveguide that forms a vortex field of the microwave range. We construct its numerical model.
