Flat Optics for Polarization Structure Engineering from 2D to 3D

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces have transformed polarization control by enabling precise engineering of complex polarization structures. This review explores their evolution from generating 2D polarization structures to shaping fully 3D polarization fields. By unlocking the unprecedented control over the polarization and spectral information of light, these advances ...

Inhomogeneous Gain Saturation in EDF: Experiment and Modeling

open access: yes, 2011
Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers can present holes in spectral gain in Wavelength Division Multiplexing operation. The origin of this inhomogeneous saturation behavior is still a subject of controversy.

Modular Hydrogel‐Based Nano‐Bead Emitters for Bright, Homogeneous Fluorescent Thin Films and 3D Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
NBE provide a versatile platform for creating bright, homogeneous thin films (<10 nm) and complex 3D architectures. Their modular design allows the incorporation of virtually any dye, enabling stable, reproducible, and scalable fabrication. This simplicity and flexibility open new opportunities for optical materials, imaging, and bio‐related ...

Nonvolatile and Low‐Loss Reconfigurable Optical Switches Using Sb2S3 Phase Change Material

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Sb2S3‐assisted hybrid plasmonic waveguide‐based reconfigurable, nonvolatile 1 × 2 switch using an asymmetric directional coupler is presented. Its dual‐polarization functionality ensures its broader applicability and flexibility in integrated photonic systems where polarization diversity is often required.

Multimodal Luminescence from LaAlO3:Eu3+ via Trap Modulation for High‐Temperature Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
LaAlO3:Eu3+ (LAO:E) phosphor exhibiting multimode luminescence enabled by multilevel traps spanning shallow to deep states is reported. These traps ensure controlled charge storage and release at room and elevated temperatures. Experimental studies and theoretical calculations reveal the trapping–detrapping mechanism, highlighting LAO:E as a promising ...

Techniques and Advances in Ultrafast Photography

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This review maps the fast‐growing field of ultrafast photography from early mechanical cameras to modern optical‐computational methods. It organizes techniques into four families (multishot passive/active; single‐shot passive/active), explains how they reach trillion‐frame‐per‐second speeds, compares capabilities and tradeoffs, and highlights ...
