PolSpec: Polarisation‐Based Detection for Versatile, Cost‐Effective Rapid Hyperspectral Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
“PolSpec” is a fast, flexible, data efficient and cost‐effective technique for hyperspectral imaging utilising polarisation‐based spectral modulation. Using data‐efficient representation of spectral information on vector plots, it facilitates rapid visualisation and segmentation of spectral contrast to classify sample features. As a proof of concept, a

Temperature measurement of overlapped fiber Bragg grating sensors in a series fiber sensor network

open access: yesResults in Optics
Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) in a sensor network have been widely used for structural health and process monitoring. The number of FBGs with distinct wavelength that can be used in such a sensor network is limited by the bandwidth of the laser used. FBGs,

Thermo‐Optically Tunable Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters Comprising Ultra‐Thin Silicon‐on‐Sapphire Metasurfaces

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Ultra‐thin, tunable bandpass filters are a pathway to realizing mid‐infrared spectrometers that are compact, low power, and performant. The authors elicit 141 nanometres of passband tunability in the mid‐infrared in silicon on sapphire zero‐contrast gratings by exploiting silicon's high thermo‐optic coefficient.

Programmable Dual‐Wavelength Switchable All‐fiber Laser via Hybrid Optical Amplifier in the NIR‐III Region for Multi‐Contrast Photoacoustic Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A novel dual‐wavelength switchable all‐fiber laser operating in the NIR‐III region, utilizing a hybrid optical amplifier, is presented. This laser generates high power‐spectral‐density pulses with flexible pulse widths and high switching frequencies, enabling efficient multi‐contrast photoacoustic microscopy for the detection of microplastics in ...
