Modulation of laser radiation by suspension of carbon nanotubes in a magnetic liquid [PDF]
Background and Objectives: Magnetic fluids are unique nanodispersed systems that have the properties of a magnetic material and a liquid. Although their magnetic properties are inferior to steels and ferrites, they are supermagnetic compared to most ...

Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Wavelength Assignment Vs. Wavelength Converter Placement in Wavelength-Routed Optical WDM Networks
Abstract In this paper, we deal with the wavelength assignment and the converter placement problem in wavelength-routed optical WDM Mesh networks. Our objective is to try to assign wavelengths in an efficient manner with/without wavelength conversion to get a very low blocking probability and optimize the performance of the overall network.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Self-seeding of a gain-switched integrated dual-laser source for the generation of highly wavelength-tunable picosecond optical pulses [PDF]
The authors demonstrate the generation of nearly transform-limited optical pulses that are wavelength tunable over almost 50 nm. The wide tuning range is obtained by self-seeding a gain-switched source containing two Fabry-Perot lasers, and employing a ...

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Investigation of the tolerance of wavelength-routed optical networks to traffic load variations.
This thesis focuses on the performance of circuit-switched wavelength-routed optical network with unpredictable traffic pattern variations. This characteristic of optical networks is termed traffic forecast tolerance.

Wavelength conversion in a short length of a solid lead-silicate fibre
We experimentally demonstrate a four-wave-mixing-based wavelength conversion scheme at 1.55 µm using a 1.1-m length of highly nonlinear, dispersion tailored W-type lead–silicate optical ...

Impact of signal wavelength on the semiconductor opticalamplifier gain uniformity for high speed optical routers employing the segmentation model [PDF]
This paper investigates the impact of a train of input Gaussian pulses wavelength on semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) gain uniformity for high speed applications. In high speed applications, the linear output gain of the input pulses is necessary in
