Modulating Short Wavelength Fluorescence with Long Wavelength Light
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2014Two molecules in which the intensity of shorter-wavelength fluorescence from a strong fluorophore is modulated by longer-wavelength irradiation of an attached merocyanine-spirooxazine reverse photochromic moiety have been synthesized and studied. This unusual fluorescence behavior is the result of quenching of fluorophore fluorescence by the thermally ...

The advent of multiwavelength lasers has stimulated considerable interest in wavelength selection, i.e., methods of selecting for various applications one or more of the available wavelengths from a given laser. This paper describes a technique for parallel wavelength separation or recombination of laser beams external to laser cavities.

Distributed wavelength provisioning is becoming one of the most important technologies for supporting the next-generation wavelength-routed networks. In this paper we analyze the behavior of wavelength-routed networks with partial wavelength conversion capabilities (i.e., where wavelength conversion is available at only a subset of network nodes) when ...

Dual-wavelength phase-shifting digital holography that selectively extracts wavelength information from five wavelength-multiplexed holograms is presented. Specific phase shifts for respective wavelengths are introduced to remove the crosstalk components and extract only the object wave at the desired wavelength from the holograms.

Previous methods of two-wavelength variable-sensitivity interferometry are reviewed and a simplified two-wavelength technique for interferometric testing under static conditions is discussed. An extension of the static technique to real-time dynamic testing is proposed and an operational variable-sensitivity interferometer utilizing the real-time ...

Wavelength Reservation in Wavelength-routed Optical Networks
Journal of Optical Communications, 2006A novel wavelength reservation protocol is proposed for wavelength-continuous lightpaths establishment in the wavelength-routed optical networks. The protocol uses backward reservation protocol (BRP) with intermediate retry to reduce the chance of blocking.

Wavelength-selective photodetectors operating at long wavelength
SPIE Proceedings, 2006We demonstrate a wavelength-selective photodetector that combines a Fabry-Perot filtering-cavity (FPC) with a taper absorption-cavity (TAC). The taper cavity shows non-resonant effect but exhibits absorption enhancement effect, so that high-speed, high quantum efficiency, wide tuning range and ultra-narrow spectral linewidth can be achieved ...

Wavelength requirements in wavelength-routed ring networks
Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999In this paper, we discuss the wavelength requirements for wavelength-routed ring networks. A new integer linear programming (ILP) formulation is proposed for routing and wavelength assignment of wavelength path (WP) and virtual wavelength path (VWP) routing schemes.
