Silicon-Based Hybrid (de)Multiplexer for Wavelength-/Polarization-Division-Multiplexing

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2018
A novel hybrid multiplexer for wavelength-division- multiplexing (WDM) and polarization-division-multiplexing (PDM) is proposed and realized by integrating a polarization-splitter-rotator (PSR) and an optical-filter array based on novel microring ...

Mode and Polarization‐Division Multiplexing Based on Silicon Nitride Loaded Lithium Niobate on Insulator Platform

Laser & Photonics reviews, 2021
Mode and polarization‐division multiplexing technologies (MDM and PDM) can offer considerable parallelism for optical multiplexing biosensors, complex optical neural networks, and high‐capacity optical interconnects, while requiring only a single ...

Wavelength Division Multiplexing

SPIE Proceedings, 1985
Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) represents an approach for expanding the communication capacity and for implementing special data techniques in a fiber optics system. This technology is implemented by adding optical sources of different wavelengths at optical transmitting locations. The present paper is concerned with some of the current efforts

WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXED NETWORKS

Optical Amplifiers and Their Applications, 1995
Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) or optical frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) based transport networks are being intensively studied because they are expected to support broadband services [1-4]. Both transmission line capacity and processing node capacity will be increased by the simple node configuration.

Wavelength-Division Multiplexed Optical Cryptocurrency

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2021
We propose an optical proof-of-work scheme that feeds data encoded into wavelength-division multiplexed modes through a programmable photonic network. We verify robustness by modeling network dispersion, allowing for energy-efficient optical al- ternatives to current cryptocurrency security schemes.

Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM)

2021
Wavelength division multiplexing or WDM allows the combining of a number of independent information-carrying wavelengths onto the same fiber, because of the wide spectral region in which optical signals can be transmitted efficiently. This chapter addresses the operating principles of WDM, describes a wide array of optical sources and passive ...

Multisoliton interactions and wavelength-division multiplexing

Optics Letters, 1995
Multisoliton interactions are studied with an asymptotic expansion of the N-soliton solution in the limit of large frequency separation between the channels. In this limit the spectral distortion is small and the peak frequency shift of a channel is the sum of pairwise shifts as a result of interaction with other channels.

Optical wavelength division multiplex

[Proceedings] GLOBECOM '90: IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition, 2002
The author presents a brief overview of WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) technology, systems, and challenges, with emphasis on current research at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Particular attention is given to long-haul systems, local applications, and tunable WDM (e.g. the WDM digital crossconnect system and WDM multiple-access networks). >
