Extension of Haar wavelet technique for numerical solution of three-dimensional linear and nonlinear telegraph equations

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
In this manuscript, a hybrid numerical technique is presented for solving three-dimensional hyperbolic telegraph equations. The proposed technique is based on the Haar wavelet collocation method and the finite difference method.

Games and gamification projects in the Australian public sector

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Public Administration, EarlyView.
Abstract This article surveys the arrival of gameful government into Australian public sector practice. Gameful government is a shorthand, descriptive term denoting the interpenetration of (video)games, and design elements and thinking from them, into public sector work.

Closeness and disappointment in Jordanian friendships Proximité et déception en amitié en Jordanie

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Western folk models of friendship assume that friends like one another, implying mutually positive feelings. However, accounts of friendship from across times and places suggest that disappointment goes along with friendship as often as mutual affection.

A Legendre Wavelet Spectral Collocation Method for Solving Oscillatory Initial Value Problems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
In this paper, we propose an iterative spectral method for solving differential equations with initial values on large intervals. In the proposed method, we first extend the Legendre wavelet suitable for large intervals, and then the Legendre-Guass ...

The birth of an earth being: ‘Rights of nature’ in Brazilian Amazonia and elsewhere Naissance d'un être de la terre : « droits de la nature » en Amazonie brésilienne et ailleurs

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
In June 2023, the Laje River, located in the traditional territory of the Wari’ Indigenous people in Rondônia, Brazil, was declared a legal entity, an earth being, with rights, following the co‐ordinated action of an indigenous councillor and non‐indigenous activists.

VALUATION OF BOUNDARY-LINKED ASSETS [PDF]

open access: yes
This article studies the valuation of boundary-linked assets and their derivatives in continuous-time markets. Valuing boundary-linked assets requires the solution of a stochastic differential equation with boundary conditions, which, often, is not ...

A multi-resolution hybrid Haar wavelet collocation method for solving nonlinear partial differential equations

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
This study focuses on approximation of several types of partial differential equations with different orders (including diffusion equation, Fisher equation, Atangana-Baleanu Burger’s equation and Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation). A multi-resolution (MR)

A novel wavelet based hybrid method for finding the solutions of higher order boundary value problems

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2018
In this paper, a new wavelet based hybrid method is developed for obtaining the solution of higher order linear and nonlinear boundary value problems. The proposed method is based on approximation of solution by non-dyadic wavelets family with dilation ...

South Asian Bodies at British Borders in the 1970s: From the Ugandan Asian ‘Stateless Husbands’ to ‘Virginity Testing’

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article looks at two critical moments in British immigration – the case of the ‘stateless’ Ugandan Asian husbands, whose wives successfully argued for their entry in Britain in 1973 and the ‘virginity test’ performed on Mrs K at Heathrow Airport in 1979.
