Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

A Quantitative Analysis of an EEG Epileptic Record Based on MultiresolutionWavelet Coefficients

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
The characterization of the dynamics associated with electroencephalogram (EEG) signal combining an orthogonal discrete wavelet transform analysis with quantifiers originated from information theory is reviewed.

RANDOM WAVELET SERIES: THEORY AND APPLICATIONS

open access: yesEmergent Nature, 2002
Random Wavelet Series form a class of random processes with multifractal properties. We give three applications of this construction. First, we synthesize a random function having any given spectrum of singularities satisfying some conditions (but including non-concave spectra).

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

Rigorous Free-Fermion Entanglement Renormalization from Wavelet Theory

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2018
We construct entanglement renormalization schemes that provably approximate the ground states of noninteracting-fermion nearest-neighbor hopping Hamiltonians on the one-dimensional discrete line and the two-dimensional square lattice.

Materials‐Driven Additive Manufacturing for Electrical Machines: Qualification‐Oriented Design Beyond Geometric Freedom

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective reframes additive manufacturing for electrical machines as a qualification‐limited materials and architecture design problem. It links process–structure–property–performance relationships to magnetic, conducting, dielectric, and thermal property windows, highlighting where AM can enable segmented magnetic circuits, permanent magnet ...

WaveConstLib: A java library for signal analysis and wavelet construction

open access: yesSoftwareX
Wavelet theory (WT) is essential for analyzing non-stationary signals, particularly in real-world applications requiring time-frequency analysis. A key challenge is to identify the optimal wavelet function that matches signal characteristics, enabling ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
