Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Wax deposition onto Fe2O3 surfaces

open access: yes
The deposition of wax onto hematite surfaces has been investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. This process has been modelled using n-octacosane (C-28) as a representative wax molecule and the (0001) and (10(1) over bar 2) hematite surfaces ...

Tuning the Optoelectronic Properties of Wide Bandgap Perovskites: Data‐Driven Insights from Combinatorial Synthesis and High‐Throughput Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Combinatorial vapor deposition enables independent tuning of Cs/Pb and Br/Cl in wide‐bandgap perovskites. Automated multimodal mapping of 500+ compositions reveals a high‐energy optical transition that correlates with enhanced photoluminescence, defining a practical Cs/Pb window.

Evaluation of effects of selected wax inhibitors on paraffin deposition

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]©2003 Taylor & Francis - Deposition from decane solutions of model paraffins such as n-C24H50 (C-24), and n-C36H74 (C-36), as well as a mixture of n-alkanes (C-21 to C-44) was examined with and without chemical wax deposition inhibitors.

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Atom Probe Tomography as an Emerging Tool for Understanding Defect‑Driven Mechanisms in HfO2‑Based Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective highlights atom probe tomography as a powerful tool for understanding the atomic‐scale defect chemistry in HfO2‐based ferroelectrics. 3D mapping of dopants, point defects, and interface chemistry can provide new insight into defect‐driven mechanisms underpinning the ferroelectricity in the system and guide the design of more reliable ...
