SP-Wax: Solid–liquid equilibrium thermodynamic modeling software for paraffinic systems

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2019
The open-source software (SP-Wax) for the solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) calculation of paraffin is presented. Paraffin modeling is important to many industries and engineering applications.

Workflow to Evaluate Wax Deposition Risk Along Subsea Production Systems

open access: yes, 2017
The potential for wax formation and deposition along subsea production systems pose a severe flow assurance risk. During early stages of a field development (when information is limited), the risk needs to be quantified in order to develop preliminary ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

EXPERIMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF PREDICTIVE WAX DEPOSITION MODELS IN SIMULATION SOFTWARE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
One of the most relevant flow assurance issue in oil transportation is indeed the phenomena of wax deposition. Wax deposition occur when the temperature along the pipeline falls below a point where it is described as Wax Appearance Temperature(WAT) of ...

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

Preventing and removing wax deposition inside vertical wells: a review

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, 2019
Wax deposition is one of the most challenging flow assurance issues in oil production processes. The related problems span from reservoirs to refineries, but their consequences can be particularly challenging when the affected area is difficult to reach,

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Managing paraffin wax deposition in oilwell [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The presence of paraffin wax in crude oil has cause flow and mechanical problems while the oil is flowing from the wellbore via surface production tubing, facilities and trunkline to the crude oil terminal.

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...
