Dynamic colour change as a signalling tool in bluelined goatfish (Upeneicthtys lineatus)
Bluelined goatfish can dynamically change their body pattern and colour from a neutral white to a dark red banded pattern under 10 s. Goatfish are more likely to adopt a dark red banded pattern when actively feeding. Furthermore, associated fishes spend more time with goatfish displaying the red banding. It is likely bluelined goatfish use rapid colour

A novel Escherichia coli K12 derivative was used as a chassis for 2′‐FL biosynthesis. Inactivation of transcriptional regulator McbR can improve 2′‐FL production. Double mutation F40S/Q237S of FutC‐J166 increased 2′‐FL titer by 1.55‐fold. Abstract The most abundant human milk oligosaccharide 2′‐fucosyllactose (2′‐FL) is a valuable component that has ...

A powerful Escherichia coli cell factory was developed to enhance 2′‐FL production. The systematic engineering strategies included modular combinatorial optimization, enhancement of NADPH and GTP supply, gene knockout and screening for α1,2‐fucosyltransferase. The final titre of 2′‐FL was 22.3 g l−1 by fed‐batch in a 3 l bioreactor.
